Job Description

The Library and Archives of the US Marine Band seek to partner with one or more interns to provide them with hands-on experience that could include working with primary documents, inventory reconciliation, arrangement and description, local standards creation and implementation, and EAD3 encoding. This is primarily an opportunity in processing. This experience takes place in a music library and archive, and while knowledge of music is not required, interns may find even a minimal music background helpful.



The following are brief descriptions of what this opportunity may include:

-Wrap up an in-progress inventory of holdings

-Finish arrangement of collections in progress and arrange unprocessed collections

-Bring existing finding aids into DACS compliance and create new finding aids

-Help establish and implement necessary local standards

-Photo digitization



Interested candidates should be enrolled in a degree granting program or be a recent graduate, preferably with a focus in archives.  Stipend will be determined based on intern’s qualifications and experience. Interns are limited to working no more than 29 hours per week. They may not be a family member of a National Museum of the Marine Corps or United States Marine Band employee, and are considered employees of the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation, who has generously sponsored this opportunity. http://www.marineheritage.org/
