Morehead State University, recognized as one of the top public universities in the South by U.S. News & World Report, is accepting applications for a full-time position as a Cataloging Librarian for the Camden-Carroll Library.
Responsibilities: Perform both original and complex copy cataloging and authority control according to current national standards and local practices of all non-print materials (including selective electronic resources), music scores, music recordings, other music materials, and the P-12 children’s collection (including print and non-print materials); train and supervise one full-time staff member; participate in the development of policies and procedures pertaining to the Cataloging department; coordinate and/or participate in special projects; serve as collection development librarian liaison to an academic department; engage in professional activities and service; participate in library and university committees; report to the Head of Cataloging.
Qualifications: ALA accredited MLS by date of appointment. Experience or coursework in cataloging. Knowledge of AACR2r, MARC formats, LC subject headings, and LC and Dewey classification systems. Awareness of emerging trends and issues in cataloging. Ability to use technology to perform technical services tasks. Ability to work in a collaborative, service- oriented, dynamic and changing environment. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Desired Qualifications: Experience with professional level cataloging in multiple formats. Strong analytical and organizational skills. Experience with integrated library systems, especially the Voyager system. Experience with OCLC Connexion. Supervisory experience.
