List of Previous Goals and Progress Made

  • GOAL 1: Designed and released Annual Conference Survey, relaying board’s recommendations to 2022 Annual Meeting Task Force
    • Contributes to organizational excellence through transparency.
  • GOAL 2: Monitored and evaluated first year of Implicit Bias Training requirement for all committee members/chairs, special officers, editors, and Interest Group coordinators
    • Makes MLA a welcoming, inclusive, and affirming organization for people of all identities by helping members recognize implicit biases that they hold, with the larger goal of encouraging each person to reflect upon these biases and the influence the biases might have on individuals’ work within the organization
  • GOAL 3: Evaluated and revised Interest Groups and Interest Group Guidelines
    • Promotes organizational excellence and encourages member participation

  • GOAL 1: Update the Planning Committee Handbook
    • Clarity in responsibilities and roles will improve organizational excellence
  • GOAL 2: Pursue tiered membership survey once FY22 dues are set
    • Basing membership rates on self-selected categories tied to income, which some other organizations do, could make access to membership more equitable and affordable to some individuals
  • GOAL 3: Evaluate pilot for Student/Early Career Representative to the Board during its third year (2022)
    • Improve organizational excellence
