List of Previous Goals and Progress Made

  • Elect a new vice-chair: Alica Stephens
  • Conduct Fall chapter meeting virtually
  • Fund a number of grants for MLA membership and national conference attendance: Not needed, as the MLA conference was more affordable this year
  • Outreach to NYC area library schools, advertising the chapter meeting and the grants
  • Conduct an assessment and inventory of chapter documents; develop a standard procedure for storing and preserving new chapter documents as they are produced: Not completed

List of Future Goals

  • Elect a new chair – Greg Sigman’s term is up in 2022, with a new chair to be installed and take office at the end of the Spring 2022 chapter meeting
  • Resume in-person meetings, if the membership supports this. Fall chapter meeting, 2021 – having polled the membership earlier this month (August), we found the majority of members in favor of an in-person meeting. This is being scheduled at NYPL’s BookOps facility in Long Island City, Queens, for November 5. A large number of members voiced support for a hybrid meeting format, so we’ll try and make this happen.
  • Allocate a sum of money to be donated to MLA’s Diversity Scholarship Fund. We need to get the membership to agree upon an amount.
