MLA-L Mediator, Annual Report 2021

submitted by Steve Landstreet

Current Roster

  • Steve Landstreet, Mediator (2023)

List of Previous Goals and Progress Made

  • Try to improve on the widespread negative feelings regarding the tenor of MLA-L
    • After two episodes during the first two months of my appointment the list has been essentially problem-free (IMO)
  • Lower the “unsubscribe” numbers for MLA-L
    • Anecdotal evidence is that especially after concluding the first episode (James Levine) this has been the result
  • Generate awareness that MLA-L won’t be an unsupervised free-for-all
    • The absence of problems on MLA-L since last April seems to bear this out

List of Future Goals

  • Training
    • Locate and implement appropriate training for this special officer role
  • Recruit an Assistant MLA-L Mediator sooner, or later
  • Implement the MLA-L Mediator/Assistant Mediator Review Panel
  • Work towards developing a handbook for the positions

Note:  The Strategic Plan and its annual updates do not address the MLA-L directly, since it came under Board control relatively recently.  But  MLA-L is certainly vital for the general goals of organizational advocacy and outreach.
