MLA-L Mediator, Annual Report 2021
submitted by Steve Landstreet
Current Roster
- Steve Landstreet, Mediator (2023)
List of Previous Goals and Progress Made
- Try to improve on the widespread negative feelings regarding the tenor of MLA-L
- After two episodes during the first two months of my appointment the list has been essentially problem-free (IMO)
- Lower the “unsubscribe” numbers for MLA-L
- Anecdotal evidence is that especially after concluding the first episode (James Levine) this has been the result
- Generate awareness that MLA-L won’t be an unsupervised free-for-all
- The absence of problems on MLA-L since last April seems to bear this out
List of Future Goals
- Training
- Locate and implement appropriate training for this special officer role
- Recruit an Assistant MLA-L Mediator sooner, or later
- Implement the MLA-L Mediator/Assistant Mediator Review Panel
- Work towards developing a handbook for the positions
Note: The Strategic Plan and its annual updates do not address the MLA-L directly, since it came under Board control relatively recently. But MLA-L is certainly vital for the general goals of organizational advocacy and outreach.
