List of Previous Goals and Progress Made

  1. Improve website access for MLA Publications.
    • Drafts of revised publications pages are in Basecamp. Notes and the monographic series are prioritized. This has not yet been completed.
    • This work must take place initially within the Web Committee, and as we understand there is a major queue for their work.
  2. Promote Open Access for MLA Publications.
    • Provide support for Open Access publications: an advisory committee was formed to help further such discussion.
    • Monographs originally published by Scarecrow were scanned and uploaded to Internet Archive with major work performed by the Administrative Officer team as well as the Open Access editor and editorial board.
    • Discussion has taken place/is ongoing re: the possibility of publishing MCB open accessibly.

List of Future Goals

  1. Improve website access to MLA publications.
    • Strategic Plan Objective 3.5: Prioritize accessibility.
  2. Continue reviewing publications especially with regard to format (open access or otherwise).
    • Strategic Plan Objective 1.6: Develop a publishing strategy for MLA that defines the roles of official publishing outlets, including open access.
    • Strategic Plan Objective 3.5: Prioritize accessibility.
  3. Host a reception at the 2023 St. Louis annual meeting in honor of authors and editors to promote MLA Publications.
    • Strategic Plan Objective 2.5: Encourage member retention through targeted programs and support for member engagement at all career levels.
