List of Previous Goals and Progress Made

  1. Update and redesign the Notes rate card.
    • The rate card was revised to include the new Notes logo and updated with current information such as the current contact information of the Notes editor. Creating a version of the rate card in a regular 8.5 x 11 in. format is desirable and can be completed by the end of FY 2023.
  2. Update the advertisements we exchange with affiliated societies, as well as other materials, to include the new Notes logo.
    • Our “exchange advertisements” with MOUG, Perspectives of New Music and Fontes Artis Musicae were updated to include the new Notes logo and updated information about MLA membership. The Notes rate card was also revised.
  3. Examine and revise procedures as necessary to efficiently work with the new Notes layout team.
    • Procedures for working with the layout team were reviewed and updated. Specifications for advertisements were reviewed and clarified, and specific ads were revised to make them more appealing and effective.

List of Future Goals

  1. Update the Advertising Manager Handbook and mailing list of advertisers so that a smooth transition to the next Advertising Manager can occur upon completion of my fourth year in spring 2023.
  2. Work with the Annual Meeting Task Force to ensure that conference is supported by successful advertising via the conference website and program.

Goal 1: Organize Strategically — Hone MLA’s identity by refreshing the mission, core values, and organizational structure to reflect MLA’s priorities.

Goal 4: Refine and improve intraorganizational and external communications.
