List of Previous Goals and Progress Made

  1. Pilot the Instruction Consultation Service.
    • The Instruction Consultation Service launched in Fall 2021 with an email to MLA-L and accompanying webpage. Veronica Wells, the service coordinator, shared information about the service during the 2022 Annual Meeting and again via email during the summer. There are five consultants: Veronica Wells, Angela Pratesi, Sylvia Yang, Rachel Wishkoski, and Lisa Read. To date, there have been 3 consultations.
  2. Publicize and grow the Music Instruction & Pedagogy Repository.
    • The MIPR officially debuted with MLA during a well-attended (100+) session during the Annual Meeting in March 2022. IS members and working group members prepared a poster for the Digital Libraries for Musicology Conference in July 2022. As we establish more sustainable workflows for managing the Repository, we will publicize it on the MLA-L.
  3. Present the Instruction Subcommittee’s various initiatives at the MLA Annual Meeting including the Instruction Consultation Service, Music Instruction & Pedagogy Repository, and the Framework Companion for Music.
    • IS members and working group members presented “A Teaching Flight: New Initiatives and Services of the Instruction Subcommittee” during the 2022 Annual meeting, which shared information about the Instruction Consultation Service, the MIPR, and the process and progress toward developing a Framework Companion for Music.

  1. Develop sustainable workflows, workloads, and documentation for managing the Music Instruction & Pedagogy Repository.
    • Goal Area 1: Organizational Excellence. Objective 1.1: Develop and sustain the necessary resources to ensure the vitality of the Association, its programs and services. 
    • Goal Area 1: Organizational Excellence. Objective 1.3: Pursue joint ventures with other organizations that offer financial as well as professional opportunities and advantages.
  2. Complete data analysis and development of a draft of a Companion for Music for the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy in Higher Education.
    • Goal Area 1: Organizational Excellence. Objective 1.1: Develop and sustain the necessary resources to ensure the vitality of the Association, its programs and services. 
  3. Extend the pilot for the Instruction Consultation Service through AY23.
    • Goal Area 1: Organizational Excellence. Objective 1.1: Develop and sustain the necessary resources to ensure the vitality of the Association, its programs and services.
