List of Previous Goals and Progress Made

  • 1. Ensure that the call for scholarship applications goes out in June 2023.
    • Completed.
  • 2. Evaluate and select recipients.
    • Completed.
  • 3. Goal 2.2: Offer mentorship and networking opportunities. Provide more opportunities to meet virtually in addition to in-person meetings (i.e., annual national MLA meeting).
    • Previous and current chairs have met with past and 2023 awardees virtually before the national MLA meeting in March 2023. Current chair has met with 2023 awardees in person at the past annual meeting to welcome, provide introductions, and offer any mentorship possible.

List of Future Goals

  • 1. Objective 4.3: Develop and/or formalize on-boarding, including DEIA efforts, for new members, new committee members, and committee chairs.
    • Continue to add to new documentation for future committee members and chairs, to ensure better onboarding of future members.
  • 2. Objective 3.7: Enhance outreach efforts to members of underrepresented groups, Goal 2.2: Offer mentorship and networking opportunities.
    • Implement strategies to better support and mentor awardees and applicants.
  • 3. Objective 3.3: Review appointment processes for MLA positions, Goal 2.2: Offer mentorship and networking opportunities.
    • Review and update committee appointment process.
    • Discuss ways in which we can better support future applicants with the application process.
