List of Previous Goals and Progress Made

  • 1. Plan our fall meeting
    • Goal Area 2: Develop and Retain Membership; Objective 2.2: Offer mentorship and networking opportunities
    • Meeting held September 30-October 1, 2022 at Temple University
    • Provided a hybrid option for those not able to attend in-person (Goal Area 3; Objective 3.5: Prioritize accessibility)
  • 2. Improve travel grant process:
    • Adjusted procedures to accommodate prepayment with the Secretary/Treasurer’s involvement, addressing inequity by taking away burden of fronting money and having to wait for reimbursement. (Goal Area 3; Objective 3.5: Prioritize accessibility)
  • 3. Encourage conference presentation submissions through Humanities Commons
    • Goal Area 4; Objective 4.1: Decide the official platforms; Objective 4.4: Promote the professional contributions made by members
    • A committee was formed to investigate which platform would serve best as our chapter repository. After conducting research, a recommendation was made for Humanities Commons. Committee and board members participated in a successful pilot testing period. Information has been added to the chapter website and a formal announcement is to be made at the fall meeting.

  • 2. Elect new Chair (term 2024-2026)
    • Goal Area 2; Objective 2.1: Cultivate leaders
  • 3. Fill committee vacancies.
    • Review committee recruitment practices and explore new approaches (Goal area 3: cultivate inclusivity Objective 3.3)
    • Improve accuracy and consistency of Committee membership lists.
    • Encourage committees to engage outside of chapter meetings.
  • 4. Improve on-boarding process for new board members
    • Goal 4: Strengthen communication; Objective 4.3: Develop and/or formalize on-boarding for new members
    • Develop officer handbook/calendar
  • 5. Engage further with MLStEP liaison to see how the chapter can support our new members/early career professionals
    • Goal Area 2; Objective 2.2: Offer mentorship and networking opportunities
  • 6. Further support National Membership Committee in providing presentations to music librarianship students.
    • Goal Area 4; Objective 4.5: Participate in the community of music librarianship outside of MLA.
    • We had one member complete a presentation this past year and will continue outreach for future presentation possibilities
