submitted by Jason Imbesi

Current Roster

  • Jason Imbesi, Membership Management Officer (2024)

List of Previous Goals and Progress Made

  • 1. Continue the onboarding process for this new special officer position. During this process, update workflows and documentation as needed and begin to develop a more formalized onboarding plan for future MMOs.
    • Progress: After completing the onboarding process, I have been working to update and improve workflows and documentation related to executing the duties of the MMO position. I am continuing to perform this work and also developing an onboarding plan for incoming AMMOs.
  • 2. Participate on assigned committees, task forces, and working groups, including as an ex officio member of the Membership Committee, the Web Committee, and, once established, the Committee Management Team.
    • Progress: I have served on the Membership Committee, Web Committee, and the Committee Management Team. The work of those groups is outlined in their respective annual reports.
  • 3. Create membership reports for Chapters and IAML. Work with the CFOs and each appropriate Treasurer to track rosters, payments, and process RFPs and 990N forms.
    • Progress: I have created membership reports for MLA regional chapters and IAML to facilitate dues payments and support their membership-related activities (promotion, election, etc.). I have also worked with Chapter treasurers and the CFOs to file required tax forms and paperwork.
  • 4. Collaborate with the CFOs and the Business Office in the management and successful execution of the yearly membership renewal process.
    • Progress: Along with the CFOs and the Business Office, the MMOs successfully planned and executed the opening of the FY24 membership year.
  • 5. Maintain the MLA listserv recipient lists, particularly the Chapter Chair list.
    • Progress: The AMMO and I have maintained the listserv recipient lists for interest groups, committee chairs, and Chapter chairs, and created a new listserv for organizational liaisons (MLAOL-L). We also documented updates regarding the eligibility of membership to these listservs, especially Board member and special officer roles whose work could be aided through access to the targeted listservs.
  • 6. Assist in the planning and execution of an online town hall session aimed at encouraging recruitment of special officers and editors.
    • Progress: I assisted in the planning of and participated in an online town hall session in late September 2022 focused on making the recruitment process of special officers and editors more transparent and eliminating barriers to participation.
  • 7. Review and assist in the implementation of improved appointment processes for MLA positions in collaboration with the MLA Board and the Committee Recruitment Task Force and as part of the proposed Committee Management Team.
    • Progress: I provided input to the AMMO informing their draft of options for streamlining the appointment letter-writing process and a workflow for funneling appointments changes to the AMMO with Committee Management Team as part of the process. More details about all of this work should be included in both the AMMO and Committee Management Team annual reports.
