List of Previous Goals and Progress Made

  • 1. Publish twelve monthly issues of the Music Cataloging Bulletin.
    • Twelve monthly issues of the Music Cataloging Bulletin were published online in HTML and PDF versions. Bulletin content included music related changes and additions to the following: the LC/NACO authority file, the Library of Congress Classification schedules, and Library of Congress controlled vocabularies (LCSH, LCGFT, LCMPT, and LCDGT). Additional content included changes and additions to MLA’s Types of Composition for Use in Authorized Access Points for Music, changes and additions to MLA’s Thematic Indexes Used in Library of Congress NACO Authority Files, announcements from the Music Division of the Library of Congress, announcements from various subcommittees of the CMC, reports from MLA’s annual meeting, reports from CMC liaisons to ALA meetings, and questions/answers on music cataloging.
  • 2. Publish annual index to the Music Cataloging Bulletin.
    • An annual index to the MCB was compiled and published online in HTML and PDF versions.
  • 3. Transfer issues of the Music Cataloging Bulletin, the annual index, and editor’s reports to the MLA Archives.
    • Issues, indexes, and reports from 2020 to 2022 were transmitted to the MLA Archives.
  • 4. Explore the possibility of moving the Music Cataloging Bulletin to open access.
    • Discussions involving the Chairs of Cataloging and Metadata Committee and the Publications Committee continued.

  1. Publish twelve monthly issues of the Music Cataloging Bulletin.
    • Supports Objective 2.3 by sustaining member contact throughout the year; supports Objective 2.4 by providing support to members in the music cataloging subdiscipline.
  2. Publish annual index to the Music Cataloging Bulletin.
    • Supports Objective 2.3 by sustaining member contact throughout the year; supports Objective 2.4 by providing support to members in the music cataloging subdiscipline.
  3. Explore the possibility of moving the Music Cataloging Bulletin to open access.
    • Supports Objective 1.6 by participating in the general shift of MLA’s publishing toward open access.
  4. Transfer the appropriate files to the MLA Archives.
