…the oldest college football fight song in the United States is attributed to Boston College?
Composed and written by T.J. Hurley in 1885, “For Boston” has been the school’s official fight song since 1917, but faced competition fifteen years later when two members from the class of 1934 composed “Sweep Down the Field,” originally titled “Maroon and Gold.”
Both tunes can be heard at the Boston College Magazine website.
