The Music Library Association has contracted with the Racial Equity Institute, LLC (REI), to provide a virtual groundwater approach session for members of MLA on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, 1-4:30 pm Central. This virtual session will be hosted on Zoom, and is limited to 100 participants. REI provides the following overview of the Groundwater Approach session: “In this lively and participatory presentation, REI organizers will use stories and data to present a perspective that racism is fundamentally structural in nature. By examining characteristics of modern-day racial inequity, the presentation introduces participants to an analysis that most find immediately helpful and relevant.”
In recognition of the importance of this work and its centrality to MLA’s Mission Statement, the MLA Board has decided to underwrite the expense of the Racial Equity Institute, LLC’s, MLA workshop. No registration fee will be charged. However, MLA is offering individuals and institutions the opportunity to donate to MLA specifically to offset the expense of this workshop. If the total of the donated funds exceeds the cost of the workshop ($7,000.00), the donation may be allocated to other DEI efforts or projects that help MLA fulfill its mission.
