Southeast Chapter Meeting & Travel Grant

Registration for the SEMLA 2024 Annual Meeting is officially open! The hybrid conference will be held from October 24-26, 2024 at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. This will also mark the 12th time SEMLA has hosted its Music in Libraries: Just the Basics pre-conference workshop. More information is available on the website: https://semla.wp.musiclibraryassoc.org/meetings/semla2024/preconference/.

Relatedly, the SEMLA Travel Grant Committee is now accepting applications for the Pauline Shaw Bayne Travel Grant. The application deadline is September 16, 2024.

The grant supports portions of the expenses related to attending this year’s annual SEMLA chapter meeting at Furman University in Greenville, SC, October 24-26, 2024. The Travel Grant may be awarded for up to $500.

This grant is intended to benefit people interested in music librarianship, especially those who are new to the field or who have had limited opportunities to attend a SEMLA meeting. Please note that music library paraprofessionals, support staff, and library school students are eligible for this grant and are encouraged to apply.

Applicants must submit the following to SEMLA Travel Grant Committee Chair Laura Williams (laura.williams@duke.edu) by September 16, 2024:

A letter that addresses your motivation to attend the upcoming SEMLA meeting, as well as:

  • Confirmation that you meet eligibility requirements (see https://semla.wp.musiclibraryassoc.org/pauline-shaw-bayne-travel-grant/)
  • A description of funding needs, including an estimate of anticipated costs (N.B.: The SEMLA hotel rate is $159.99 per night plus taxes)
  • Information about any other grants, matching funds, or institutional support you expect to receive.
  • A current résumé or curriculum vitae.
  • One reference and their contact information
